Every day, a postman traces his route through a neighborhood in Zurich containing a housing complex little different from so many others in the world. He makes his rounds in sun, in snow, and in rain. Day in and day out, he tries to be both a good postman and a good person – one who cares about his fellow human beings. In his role as bringer of both good and bad news, he becomes privy to secrets and develops the compassionate desire to help the residents of the housing complex. At first, he really only wants to get closer to Lauriane. He sees her every day when he delivers the mail, but ever only through her window.

The more the postman empathizes with the people in the neighborhood, the more they seem to become his own. He becomes increasingly involved in the stories of the individual residents, and by the time he realizes he is in over his head, it is already too late to make an easy exit.
